You will depart the port for a scenic drive through the winding streets of the city to a panoramic view of the inner harbor from Old Fort and the top roundabout. You will then continue to the parish of St. David’s, where plantations of cocoa and other spices can be seen as your driver describes the sights around you. Your first stop is the Laura Herb and Spice Garden, filled with trees, plants, and green grassy fields. Treat your taste buds to a range of herbs and spices in over 6.5 acres (2.6 ha) of garden. Learn about spices, their uses, what they look like in their natural state, and rumored old remedies. Discover cocoa, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, turmeric, and tonka beans. Complete your tour by heading to the gift shop, where you can purchase herbs and spices to take home and use in your own cooking. Your next stop will be at Grand Etang, located in the central part of the island. The cobalt blue lake is a “must-see.” This extinct volcano crater lake is situated 1,900 feet above sea level. Enjoy the scenery and a refreshing drink during your stop here. The descent is lined with magnificent hanging carpets of green mountain ferns through the quaint village of Vendome to Annandale Falls, where a short walk brings you to a green paradise of rushing water and hanging ferns. Here, some of Grenada’s 450 species of flowering and medicinal plants and spices can be seen. From Annandale, you will return to the ship at St. George’s Pier via Beaulieu and Marrast Hill.
