Leaving the port of St. George’s, one of the prettiest port towns in the Caribbean, you will head up the west coast and enjoy a scenic drive through the capital, where picturesque pastel-colored buildings line the landscape from the waterfront upward into the distant hills. Your guide will point out places of interest, such as the Green Bridge, named after Governor Green; Beausejour Bay, one of the landing sites for U.S. frogmen during the military intervention led by U.S. forces on October 25, 1983; and Gouyave, Grenada’s fishing village, described as the town that never sleeps. Continue to Maran before arriving at the Diamond Chocolate Factory, located in Victoria, St. Mark. This factory is housed in a former rum distillery built by French monks in 1774. You will be given a tour of the estate and shown the different types of cocoa grown on the island. Experience the process from freshly picked cocoa to post-harvest drying. After this, you will visit the chocolate factory to see how the chocolate is made. All guests will receive a chocolate bar at the end of the tour.
